A home for those who notice everything.
"Good architecture can bring inner peace and solace. That belief is at the heart of everything we do.”
- Chris Briffa, founder and architect.
Valletta Vintage is a collection of ten design apartments spread across historic buildings in Malta's capital — conceived as an alternative to the ordinary, for travellers who care about where they sleep.
It began simply: an architect's studio on Republic Street, converted into a handful of thoughtfully furnished rooms. No chain hotel formula. No compromise on quality. Just beautiful spaces at a price that doesn't require a special occasion.
Each apartment is furnished with a mix of bespoke, designer, and vintage pieces — sourced from local workshops, markets, and makers. The 150-year-old tiled floors are original; the art on the walls changes as new local talent emerges. Very much like an extension of a private home.
An architect, his partner, and a shared obsession with design.
Chris Briffa is one of Malta's most respected architects — responsible for some of Valletta's most admired historic conversions. Valletta Vintage began not as a business plan, but as a personal project: a way to share the city he loves through spaces he designed himself.
Together with his wife Hanna, Chris sources and curates every piece of furniture in the apartments — chairs, lamps, artworks, ceramics. Nothing is generic. If you return for a second visit, you'll find things have changed and improved, because for Chris the collection is never quite finished.
That restlessness — the commitment to keep getting it right — is the spirit of Valletta Vintage.
