Continuing the autobiographical story born in The Dance of Reality, Endless Poetry is Alejandro Jodorowsky’s latest surreal masterpiece, an ode to beauty and inner truth that is woven into the artistic tapestry of life.

In 1940 Santiago, Chile, we meet a 20-year-old “Alejandrito” Jodorowsky who is about to endure a baptism of fire on the altar of Art. The young artist’s father will do anything to curb his son’s love affair with poetry, but the poet’s path is in Jodorowsky’s blood. Here, the poet’s vision is given sensual force in a series of kaleidoscopic, picaresque episodes that colour the cult filmmaker’s biography with a sense of freedom and authenticity. Endless Poetry frees human memory from the shackles of the mundane to recount the poet’s inner life. On his artistic pilgrimage, Jodorowsky immerses himself in a world of poetic experimentation, where he encounters the artistic and intellectual avant-garde of Latin America’s modern literature and explores his tortured relationship with his family. Jodorowsky’s dream-like vision and his tireless search for truth — an uncompromising struggle between beauty and horror, tenderness and violence — screams for catharsis as he recalls the formative moments of his artistic life with unadulterated ecstasy, love, pain, longing and loss.
